Matthew Shapiro

Mr. Shapiro oversees the legal and compliance functions at AMF. He has been practicing corporate law since 2001. Prior to joining AMF, Mr. Shapiro was Vice President and Counsel in the Corporate/Securities/M&A Group at AllianceBernstein where he managed transaction execution for the firm’s venture capital investments and advised on the formation and operation of domestic and international investment funds.

From 2005 until 2008, Mr. Shapiro was a Senior Associate at the law firm Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP. At Gunderson Dettmer, Mr. Shapiro specialized in the representation of domestic and international hedge funds and private equity funds.

From 2001 until 2005, Mr. Shapiro practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP representing underwriters, private equity funds and public companies in various M&A, securities and corporate finance transactions.

Mr. Shapiro earned a BA, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles, a JD from Columbia Law School and a MBA from Columbia Business School.
